....bittorrent trackers? I can so it does not record any upload or download.

I know, not in the spirit of filesharing, but TBH it was more of an exercise for my bored brainbox.

Lemme know ya methods and I tell you mine.

:edit: sorry, I think this is in the wrong section. How did this happen, obviously not an error on my behalf, must just be a dodgy site

Spud: yeah must be the site, same site that ate all the topic title to make it senseless without reading the topic. Some imprisoned Narns will be severely whipped for this outrage :wacky:

LOL it is actually incredibly simple. It just popped into my brain last night after reading a bit more into how the torrent system works, and the role played by trackers.

I just wanna see if anyone else knows, or figures this out.

Just to make it a little easier, you do not need any special apps for it, and you just change 1 setting. Also, I only know this works on Azureus, but I do not know if it would work on other clients.

Azureus should be able to do it with trackerless... you might be able to connect into a lot of peers. You can also do it on multitracker peers.

You can't exactly hack in and steal peers if that's what you mean, but the network is 'open' in theory.

Bitcomet sends data to people not connected to registered trackers, but it doesn't hack into the registered ones, you must get your ip to one of the bitcomet peers first, and that's done by making yourself known on the network.

You need to get your ip known to the peers, and unknown via to the tracker to register stats, unfortunately, BT uses the tracker to make your ip known. So you need a bridge between the peers and an unregistered tracker, or a distrubuted system to do it.

The best solution is to stop being such a tight as with your bandwidth

Well, I just tested it on a torrent from a registered site that has 50 ish peers and just under 100 seeds, I got connected to 46 peers and 87 seeds. No hacking or anything spud, more of an exploit using just a firewall.

Anyways spud, I am in no way tight with my bandwidth, I challenge you to a duel :matrix:

Like I said, have only tried it on Azureus, but works like a charm. So far it has worked on any torrents I have tried, whether registered trackers or open.

FWIW, I did not come up with this as a dodge, more a case of, as said earlier, an experiment when I was bored.

OK, I will explain, and tell me how simple this is. Just prevent Azureus and Java from accessing the tracker, I just created a new sygate rule that blocked these 2 from the tracker IP, Azureus moaned about the connection to the tracker timing out, but still found all the sources almost straight away.

Speed was max as always, and checking the trackers page does indeed show it records no stats, it had no idea I was grabbing the file cos the tracker was not involved in any way.

BTW, long live ECW. :beerchug:
